Christopher J. Skelton, 40 lost his battle with alcoholism on November 28, 2018.

Visitation & celebration of life will be held at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny from 4-7 pm on Thursday, December 6, services will be at 11am, Friday, December 7 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Ankeny Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He was born on April 22, 1978 in Sioux City, Ia. He moved with his family to Ankeny, Ia in November 1980. Chris graduated from Ankeny High School in 1996 and went on to graduate maxim cum laude from William Penn University.

He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He was an avid soccer fan. He ran his first marathon in 2017 with his brother Dan, a fete he was very proud of. Chris loved to tease his brothers and friends and his most often used phrase growing up was "It's alright to cry; crying gets the sadness out of your eyes".

Chris will be missed by his parents, Gin & Denny Skelton, brothers Matt (Brandy), Jay (Erin), Shawn, Dan (Carina), & Stephen. Nieces & nephews, Kayla, Patrick, Jennah, Jack, Katie, Ruby & C.J. Uncles & aunts Don (Carol), Ron (Pam) Skelton, Ron (Jan), Dan, Al, Tim (Kristi), Terry (Gloria), Joan, Arnie (Sandy), Carl (Leslie), & Scott Bockenstedt, Dianne Heying (Ken), Cathy Mix ( Dave), June Mello (Gerry), Connie(Tom O'Neill) & many cousins & friends.

Chris married Sarah Johnson on August 20, 2005. They later divorced in 2015.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Arnold & Esther (Steffen) Bockenstedt, Mary Leone (O'Leary) Skelton, Harold Skelton, Uncles Bob Skelton & Joel Huth.
