Heart Emblem

Steven Frank Meyer, 63, of Ankeny passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Methodist Hospital, surrounded by family. A private visitation is being held for close family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date, details to come.

Steve was born on November 4, 1956 in Rock Island, IL to Cyril and Juanita Meyer. He was a 1975 graduate of Rock Island High School and went on to receive an Associate's Degree from Black Hawk Community College.

On April 21, 1979 he married Sandra Lynn Christie.

Steve resided with Sandi in Ankeny since 1993. Steve was an incredibly thoughtful, selfless, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and visiting Lake Okoboji each summer. He took any chance he had to put a fishing line in the water. He was an avid classic car and boat lover. He also never met a dog he didn't become friends with.

Steve spent the last 20+ years of his career as a chemical salesman for Houghton International and was planning to retire soon. He never stopped working though, whether it was home projects, car repairs, or yard work-- hardworking is an understatement.

Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandi; children Brad (Kiri) Meyer of Ankeny, Tim (Mary) Meyer of Ankeny, and Katie Meyer of Marion; three grandchildren Samuel, Freya, and Cecilia Meyer; brother Gary Meyer, sisters Cynthia McNeill and Carol Stamp; brother-in-law Bob Stamp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Juanita Meyer, father-in-law James Christie, brother-in-law Bill McNeill, sister-in-law Mary Kay Meyer, and unborn grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Steve may be made out to the family to go toward a memorial site in Okoboji or to the Puppy Jake Foundation (Service Dogs for Veterans).
