Salvador Martinez Carreon, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 2, 2016 in his home. Memorial visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, July 5 at Memorial Services of Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11am at St. Joseph's Church. Private family internment will be held at a later date.

Salvador was born on October 15, 1936 to Angela and Bernardo Martinez in San Juan de los Lagos in Jalisco, Mexico. He moved to the United States at 16 to pursue an education. After receiving his GED he completed his technical training in arc welding and began working at Eagle Iron Works followed by John Deere for 29 years.

Through love and great sacrifice, he often worked two jobs to provide for his family and they fondly remember his drive to fix anything and lend a helping hand. Salvador was a devout Catholic who loved music, silly jokes, classic movies, and gardening. But enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren most of all.

Salvador is survived by his wife of 55 years, Angela, and his children Sandra Mendoza (Jose), Sal Carreon (LeAnna), Elizabeth Carreon, and Steven Carreon (Shana). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Cristina, Alyssa, Brock, Salena, Vincent, Emily, Christian, and Evan.
