Prayer Emblem

Mark Howard Trusty stepped peacefully into eternity on Monday, September 5, 2016, with his family by his side.
Mark was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on June 29, 1953 to Thomas and Mary (McDonald) Trusty. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1971 where he excelled in sports, participating in basketball, baseball, and track, in which he placed second in the state in the two-mile. After high school, he attended college for two years. On May 22, 1976, he married Stephanie Fish and they had three amazing children, Joshua, Amy and Amanda (Mandy).
Mark worked in the sporting goods industry for 35 years, including Van Ginkel's and Hopkins and later as a Schwan's salesman. His great loves were golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and watching westerns.
In recent years, his greatest joys were when spending time with family, especially his four grandchildren, and in nurturing his faith in Christ. Mark was known for his loyalty, kindness, generosity, his big heart and big smile.
In 2012, Mark received the diagnosis of alpha one antitrypsin deficiency. His faith and the support of his family were vital in the management and treatment of the litany of symptoms and procedures he courageously endured, including two liver transplants. Eventually, Mark chose to enter hospice, knowing that he would soon be able to kneel at the feet of Jesus, his Lord.
Mark is survived by his wife of forty years, Stephanie; his mother, Mary Trusty; his brother, Tom (Barb Sullivan) Trusty; his sisters Cathy King, Beth Rohwedder, and Lisa (Bruce) Kinseth; his children Joshua (Maria) Trusty, Amy (Tim) Sluiter, and Mandy Trusty; his grandchildren Nilaya and Jackson (Sluiter), Vera and Everett (Trusty); his father-in-law, Richard Fish; his brothers-in-law David (Julia) Fish and Dan (Jessica) Fish; his uncle, Bob Trusty; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Trusty.
Mark's family would like to extend thanks to the health care providers at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE and Unity Point Center for Liver Disease in Des Moines, IA for their exceptional care during his illness.
Visitation for Mark will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 4:30-7pm at Prairie Ridge Church, 825 NW 36th St, Ankeny, Iowa . Services will be at Prairie Ridge Church, 825 NW 36th St, Ankeny, Iowa on Friday, Sept 9, 2016 at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
