Margie E. McCarthy (Ransom), age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 1, 2016. She was born April 8, 1944 in Stromsburg, NE to Mervin and Mildred Ransom, both deceased. She graduated in 1962 from high school in Osceola, NE. In 1965 she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Upon graduation her first job as a nurse was at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola, NE. Margie married Joe McCarthy on May 21, 1966. They had three children, one daughter and two sons. Margie worked various positions as a nurse and retired in December, 1999. She enjoyed doing yard work, painting, and jigsaw puzzles.
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Joe; her daughter and two sons; Debbie and husband Brad Meyer of Bloomington, IN, Doug and wife Tricia of Ankeny, IA, and Joe and wife Trina of West Allis, WI; four grandchildren: Chris and Rachael Meyer, and Haley and Noah McCarthy. She is also survived by one sister and two brothers; Marion and husband Chuck Doremus, Mervin Jr. and wife Bonnie, and Greg. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law; Twilla McCarthy, Rosemary McCarthy, Mary and Harley Nichelson, Patricia McCarthy –Flaig and Larry Flaig, Patricia and Tom Thomas, John and Bonnie McCarthy, and George Mondragon.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00p.m., and a vigil service will start at 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 East First Street, Ankeny, IA.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 East First Street, Ankeny, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
