Lloyd Larsen, 91, died on February 2, 2020, at Mercy One Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 7th at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 East Euclid Ave, in Des Moines. Family will be present to receive guests at 10:00 a.m.

Lloyd was born on June 22, 1928 in Ottosen Iowa, to Peter and Petrea Larsen. He served in Navy during the Korean War and was aboard the USS Bexar.
He was employed as a driver for Meadow Gold Ice Cream and later became a diesel mechanic for Pulley Freight Lines until he retired in1991.
Lloyd wasn't happy unless he was busy. He truly enjoyed staying active by spending time outdoors, working on cars, tending his garden and working in the yard. In his retirement, he worked many evenings and weekends at the Iowa State Fairgrounds taking tickets for the fair and various other events. He was a gate captain during the Iowa State Fair every year. He worked up until the last weekend of his life.
Lloyd was a kind man who also took pride in being helpful. If you needed an extra hand, he was there, and never asked for anything in return. He was a great friend to many.
He married Theresia (Schaffer) Larsen on January 9, 1948. They raised 5 children; John Leo Larsen, Lloydette Lonnie (Bob) Clark, Donna (Dennis) Pittman, Mike (Vicki) Larsen and Laurette Forney. He had 9 grandchildren; Stephen Clark, Tracy (Greg) Holland, Stephanie (Michael) Hunter, Brian (Sue) Pittman, Amy (Ray) Seidleman, Kevin (Julie) Larsen, Dan Larsen, Jason (Hannah) Forney, Geoffrey Forney. He had 17 great-grandchildren, Kristen (Josh) Fleenor, Kyle, Jayden, Kendra, Walker, Audrey (Andrew) Smithson, Sydney, Parker, Oliver, Everly, Maribell, Andrew, Isabell, Avery, Kasey, Dillon, and Gracie. Four great-great grandchildren; Emma, Zane, Trace and Memphis.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Theresia and son John.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
