Laurice James Kerns, 88, of Ankeny passed away Sept. 11, 2016, with his family by his side. He had suffered from Lung Disease for 2 years.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Sept. 15, 2016, at First Church of Christ (310 NW Ash). A visitation will be held 5 to 7:00 p.m., Sept 14, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd).
Laurice was born April 14, 1928 in Plover, Iowa to Paul and Laura (Cruickshank) Kerns.
He served his country in the US Navy for 5 years, and after his service, he married Beryl Morgan.
Laurice went to work for John Deere where he worked for nearly 30 years, until his retirement.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and his annual trip to Sturgis, SD, that he made for 44 years. He was a member of First Church of Christ, loved to tell jokes, and always had a clever "come-back". He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be truly missed.
Laurice is survived by his bride of 66 years, Beryl; 2 sons, Mike (Janyce) of Cypress,TX, Phil (Patty) of Ankeny, IA; 5 grandchildren, Kimber (Joe) Guidry of Spring, TX, Kendell Kerns of Houston, TX, Reanna (Mike) Hufford of Ankeny, IA, Sierra (Derek) Ditsworth of Rockwell, IA, and Kelsey Kerns of Ankeny, IA; 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Austin Hufford of Ankeny, IA; a sister in law Jeanice Kerns of Britt, IA, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Merle and Larry.
