Army Emblem

Larry Gene Meckstroth, 74, of Ankeny passed away June 21, 2019.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Ankeny First United Methodist Church.

It is with heavy hearts that we share with our relatives and friends the loss of an amazing Husband, Dad and Grandfather this past Friday.
Larry's parents were Tillie and Wilbur Meckstroth, who raised Larry and his brother Bill on the family farm just north of Clear Lake, IA.
After graduation from Ventura High School in 1963 Larry went into the Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam era. A few years after service on July 11, 1970 he married Barbara Jean Miller.
Larry and Barb spent the first 13 years of marriage living in Charles City, IA. In 1983 they welcomed their daughter Haley Jean.
While living in Charles City Larry worked as Transportation Manager for Oliver Tractor and White Farm Equipment. Due to the closure of White Farm Equipment the family moved to Ankeny, IA in 1986.
He worked for Innovative Injection Technologies in Des Moines until his retirement in 2007.
Larry loved spending time with his family and traveling. During his retirement Larry and Barb wintered in Arizona for many years also traveling to Alaska and Canada.
During the past few years he spent as much time as he could with his grandson Maxwell Gene and was looking forward to meeting his granddaughter this fall.
Larry is survived by his wife Barbara; his daughter Haley (Jared) Sloss, his grandson, Maxwell, and a granddaughter that is "on the way."
