Jane Martha Sheehy, 83, passed away February 19, 2019.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23rd at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, Feb 22nd, also at the funeral home. Jane was born August 28, 1935 to Forest and Corinne (Knutson) Hyler in Story County. Jane grew up in Des Moines graduating from East High. She later attended AIB and then worked for the Farmer's Grain Elevator, Pittsburg Des Moines Steele and retired from the Des Moines Club.
Jane married LaVern Sheehy September 15, 1956. They spent the first few years of marriage in Des Moines and then moved to Polk City. As a couple they enjoyed league bowling, camping, traveling, and being involved in the American Legion. La Vern passed away in 1994 and Jane then made her home in Ankeny.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Janet, brother-in-law; Ronald Chapman, brother and sister-in-law; Jim and Bonnie Hyler, brother and sister-in-law; Gene and Sue Hyler. She is survived by sisters; Betty Chapman, Marliss (Roger) Day, and Arliss (Kraig) Bonner and a brother; Kermit (Barb) Hyler, Jane is also survived by her husbands family; Norma (Orin) Erickson, Arlie (Nancy) Sheehy, and Audrey (Lee) McNabb as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Stoddard Cancer Center, Methodist Hospital, as well as the nurses and staff of Taylor House Hospice for the excellent care given to Jane.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Anchor Baptist Church.
