James Q. Beatty, age 94, of Ankeny, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 5, 2019 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church In Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM.

Born October 24, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of James and Anne (Nels) Beatty. He attended high school at De Lasalle High School in Chicago, Illinois. Jim served in the United States Navy in World War II. He served on the destroyer, USS Gherardi in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Later he became a plank owner on the destroyer, USS Ingraham, and served in the Pacific.

James attended and graduated from Quincy College in Quincy Illinois. He was married to Helen Mary Wisman on January 28, 1950. They were married for 59 years. Helen died on June 11, 2009. Jim had a distinguished 36 year career at Armour & Company. He started his career in Chicago and later transferred the Armour plant in Fairmont, Minnesota, where he served as the plant manager. Jim was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 25 years.

James later married Juanita Truesdell on August 6, 2010 in Ankeny, Iowa. Juanita passed away on September 5, 2015.

Survivors include: daughter, Linda Northwick and husband, Jerry, of Ankeny and their children David (Jessica) Northwick, James (Kelly) Northwick, and Christina (Todd) Brady, Karen Burkhart and her husband Joseph of Plainfield Indiana and their son Michael, James Beatty and his wife Kathy of Lexington, Kentucky and Quentina Beatty and her husband Bernhard Gerdenits of Linz, Austria and their daughter Elayne and six great grandchildren: Two brothers John Beatty and his wife Mary of Palos Heights, Illinois, Vincent Beatty and his wife Fran of Kingman, Arizona, and sister Jeanne Schoenke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, sister Mary Anne and brother in law Arthur Shcoenke.

Jim always told us to "Keep the Faith"
