Jim Pardock, 75, died peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Des Moines VA Hospice Unit from Alzheimers/Dementia complications.
A visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019, followed by the funeral services at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 N Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny, Iowa.
Jim will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa,
Jim was born July 28, 1943, in Chariton, Iowa. He grew up in Lacona and West Des Moines. He graduated from Dowling High School.
In 1963, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and served for 4 years. He spent nearly 1 year in Vietnam.
Jim worked as a sales representative for Beechnut, Bic Pen, and retired from Dayco Auto Parts. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing, especially at the Lake of the Ozarks. Jim also enjoyed watching old westerns and NASCAR races, reading western books, and walking around the pond at Hawkeye Park in Ankeny where he enjoyed feeding the geese and ducks..
Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joyce, his fur-daughter, Abbie; and 29 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jim considered Joyce's family his family. Jim will be missed by a host of life-long friends.
Joyce would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to all the staff at the VA Alzheimers/Dementia ward, Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation, Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Special Care Center, Des Moines VA Hospital Third Floor, and VA Hospice ward. The nurses, CNAs, CMAs, doctors, and social workers at all of these locations provided loving care and comfort.
