Heart Emblem

Jacqueline "Jackie" Joy Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 16, 2020.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21st at Ankeny Memorial Gardens (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd. Ankeny, Iowa). A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

Jacqueline was born on July 24, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to father, Irving J. Cater and Alice C. Abramson, who preceded her in death. She grew up in a loving family with two brothers and one sister who have also preceded her in death.

Jacqueline married Raymond Frederick "Ray" Kuss in June 1957 and they had four children together. Ray passed away suddenly at the age of 29 in May 1966. Jackie remarried Tony Richards Johnson. They moved to Ankeny, Iowa, and had three children together (1967 – 1982).

Jackie lived in Ankeny for almost 50 years until her death. She was best known in her community as "the baker". It was truly her joy in life to be in the kitchen whether she was cooking a meal or baking. Anyone who knew her will tell you that she was best known for her famous homemade banana bread, goulash, and tuna noodle salad.

She worked for DMACC in Ankeny for over 30 years in the cafeteria kitchen until she retired. The students there kindly referred to her as Grandma Jackie. Jackie had a heart to serve others and making sure everyone's needs were met. She loved her family, friends and Jesus with all of her heart.

Jackie is survived by six children, Michelle Qualley (Mike), Mike Johnson (Rose), Karmen Wells (Ellis), Julie Logan (Garry), Tony Johnson Jr. and Tara Johnson; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Teresa Johnson.

The family of Jackie Johnson wishes to thank everyone for their support and prayers during these difficult times.
