Dwaine "Bud" Schneider, 84, of Ankeny, IA, passed away at 12:02 PM on April 9, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, IA.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 15, in the gymnasium at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ankeny, IA.

Dwaine was born December 26, 1932, in Greene County, IA, to William and Eva (Goins) Schneider. He had one sister, Ethel Ward. All preceded him in death. He married Ruby Lashley on June 6, 1975. She survives.

Also surviving Dwaine are four children - Lisa (Don Andres) Schneider, New Jersey; Beth (Tom) Whalen, Mendota, IL; Todd (Patricia) Schneider, Mendota, IL; and Joel (Julie Wicks) Schneider, Compton, IL; 3 stepsons – Michael (Debra) Sondgeroth, Bloomington, IL; Scott (JoDee) Sondgeroth, Ankeny, IA; and Jeff (Cyndi) Sondgeroth, Bureau, IL; 10 grandchildren – Taylor Schneider, Mendota, IL; Tara Schneider, Mendota, IL; Seneca (Mario) Lopez, Compton, IL; Emily Cook, Mendota, IL; Morgan (Shadoe Akers) Sondgeroth, Earlville, IL; Cole Sondgeroth, Decatur, IL; Erin Sondgeroth, Chicago, IL; Delaney Sondgeroth, Ankeny, IA; Dylan Sondgeroth, Ankeny, IA; Avery Sondgeroth. Bureau, IL; and 3 great grandchildren – Kayne, Aidan, and Westyn.

After graduating from Malta (IL) High School, Dwaine enlisted in the United States Air Force. As a young man he worked his way through the auto parts business in Illinois before moving to Ankeny, IA, and reviving a failing bumper re-chroming business. He eventually returned to the construction field where he enjoyed operating heavy machinery for MacAninch Corporation in Des Moines, IA. In retirement, he was known for his skilled woodworking and the ability to make friends with nearly everyone he met.
