Dorothy Sanger, 89, of Carney passed away October 26, 2019. A funeral will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines St., Ankeny) A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N Ankeny Blvd).
Dorothy was born December 7, 1929 in Des Moines and was raised in Valley Junction. She married Guido Sanger June 9, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Early on she worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, and later went to work for Saydel Schools. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by; 6 children, Mark (Cindy), Guido Jr., Joseph (Toni), Christopher, Janet, and Carla (David) Porter; 10 grandchildren, Robin, Marc (Joanie), Eric ( Sara), and Ryan (Sami) Sanger, Stephanie Sanger, Stacey (Quincy) Hale, Annie (John) Bentley, Natalie (Aaron) Gendle, Kyle (Brittany) Sanger, and Nick (Danielle) Sanger; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Guido, 2 brothers; Ray & Ralph McKowen, and sister Marion Bender.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Camp Sunnyside.
