Arthur Lawrence Harrison, 93, passed away at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa on Friday, May 8, 2020. Art was born April 30, 1927 in Scranton Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence Harrison and Margaret Bevan. He joined the Marine Corps in 1945 and served in China until the end of 1946. Married to Margaret Clarke in Altoona, Pennsylvania on June 26, 1948, they celebrated their 71st anniversary last June. He was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture and began his practice in Ames, Iowa. Art continued to operate Harrison Associates until the age of 87. Art learned to fly in 1947 and the love of airplanes set the course for his business interests. As a private pilot he logged more than 25,000 hours with no commercial or military flight time. Through the years, Art owned 19 different aircraft. Harrison Associates specialized in camping and retreat site planning. At one time the business had projects in 38 states, many for the Girls Scouts of America, and the YMCA. Various Lutheran Church organizations and the United Methodist Church were constant clients.

Art is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Greg (Betty); granddaughter, Megan Harrison (Karl Bolser); great-grandson, Blake Bolser; and granddaughter, Olesia Tyschenko (Aleks Lang).

An interment at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date due to the present situation. If you wish to be notified of the time of the service please email or telephone Greg Harrison at 515-468-0802.
