Jim was born the 10th of 11 children to Otto J. and Leota (Wright) Murphy in Jefferson, Iowa, April 15 (Tax Day), 1943. Jim loved humor and used it often in showing his love for his brothers and sisters. In 1963 Jim and Connie (Perry) were united in marriage and to that union two sons, Troy (Cathy) of Johnston and Trent (Renee) of Ankeny. His six beautiful granddaughters, Aimee (Destin) Graham, Heather Murphy, Zoe Murphy, Tess Murphy, Sophie Murphy, and Cora Murphy were the treasure and delight of Jim's life.

Jim spent many years attending activities with Troy and Trent in 4-H, Boy Scouts, football, wrestling, class plays, college, and just plain enjoying and loving each other. Jim spent years as an active member of the Bondurant Lions Club and passed in good standing as a 32˚ Mason and a member of the Des Moines Consistory and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. He spent most of his life in the financial business creating JMS Transportation and CJM Financial.

Prior to his passing, Jim related to us that due to the great love from his family and the many great past and present friends: "I simply have no regrets and beg you will all celebrate my life and passing. It has been great!"

Jim came into the little local cafe where I worked, he soon became a regular over the years and everybody at the cafe Loved him I will, yes he did have quite the humor! Jim always had a smile on his face and it really lit up when he talked about those granddaughters of his, he was also very proud of that cabin he built, we (those from the cafe that loved him) had the privilege of being invited to some of his faImous parties ,what a great memory to share with him! He will be missed . I will always remember when he died because my mother died on April 15th the day Jim was born. We are so sorry for every ones loss and our prayers are with you!

We lost one of our founders yesterday. It was his vision and persuasion that started it all. Rest in peace my fellow table top trucker. (J)MS Transportation

What a lovely written tribute to Jim's life. I always remember the times when he would come into the office and stop to say hello to me......just as he would everyone else! He was such a happy and friendly guy who enjoyed life! He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your father and I went out a few times. He took me to his cabin. He was a real gentleman and we had a nice time.
