Tribute & Message From The Family

On Wednesday November 18th, 2020, Freddie Scherle, loving father, son, and brother passed away at the age of 47.

Freddie was born on January 15th, 1973 in Minneapolis. He attended Ankeny High School, the Air Force Academy, and Graduated from Iowa State University. He was a standout athlete from a young age and went on to a successful career in commercial banking. He raised three children, Gabby (23), Nick (19), and Emily (13).

Freddie had a big passion for sports that he passed onto his children. He enjoyed countless weekends watching them compete and always had his video camera out to capture the moments on the field. His loved ones will miss his shameless Dad humor, love for Star Wars, and random knowledge of fun facts. He was that Dad always saying "Hey Google" into his phone with an oversized grin. He is loved and missed by all.

Fred is survived by his children, Gabby Scherle, Nick Scherle, and Emily Scherle; parents, Fred Scherle III and Nancy Scherle; sister, Nicole (Scott) Scheidel; niece and nephew, Frankie and Henry; Jenny Scherle; step-son, Dylan; Dorian; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Rev. Fred Scherle; and grandmother, Edna Scherle.

We will be holding a short service followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 PM CT on Monday, November 23rd at Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny: 520 NW 36th St, Ankeny, IA 50023.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will go directly to the Scherle Children's Fund: https://www.mycause.com.au/page/241426/fred-scherle-memorial-fund-for-children

I feel lucky and blessed to have be able to have had the few encounters with Fred that I have... I always found him to be a calm reasonable, and thoughtful person, willing to share what he had learned throughout his life. My deepest condolences to his family as they deal most directly with this loss. I pray that God will help you all find peace.

I remember Freddie from when he and Jeremy were friends in school. It was a pleasant surprise to run into him on some business at CSB many years later. Later yet, I enjoyed his facebook postings, showing his love for his family. My condolences to your entire family Fred and Nancy. Don

Condolences to the Scherle Family. Freddie had a special place in our hearts. We did not get to see Freddie as an adult too often but when we did his face lit up as he told us about his children....he was very proud.
One memory I have was when Freddie and Craig were young. We took The boys to the Iowa State Fair. We bought the boys a root beer and went in to watch the tractor pull. The grandstand was about half full then I noticed the section the boys sat in had cleared out and there they sat alone...sort of. Alone with a swarm of bees that they were hand feeding their root beer. Bees on their fingers and hands and they were talking to them and studying them like they were pets. A memory I have held onto for about 35 + years.

Freddy had an infectious smile and a kind heart. I was blessed to know him. Mother Teresa once said, "It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving." Freddy gave of himself in many ways. He always looked to please, wanted others to be happy and enjoyed putting smiles on everyone's faces. My thoughts and prayers are with his children and all of his family...may he rest in peace and all those that loved him find comfort and peace during this difficult time.
