Condolence & Memory Journal

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just found out about the loss of this wonderful man. I use to live in one of Jon's duplexes. Jon was truly a kind and caring man to everyone. My thoughts and prayers are going out to his family. The world has lost a wonderful person.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Jon.

His smile, leadership, kindness will be missed.

I have many happy memories of Jon from college. He knew how to get a group of crazy, young college kids and form a bond and memories that last forever.

Along with Mic and Rick, Jon and I helped run Troop and Pack 88 in Ankeny for many years. There were many great camping and hiking trips in Iowa, Colorado and once to the Boundary Waters. Jon loved getting outdoors and working with the scouts. It was during one of our many late evening campfire talks that I learned he was from Scranton, where my father's family lived. Turned out Jon used to get thrown out of bed on Saturday mornings by my Grandma, who did their laundry.
Jon was a happy addition to my life and I'm sure many others. You'll be missed.

Linda, I have followed your wonderful life with Jon through our EHS lunches for all these years. Your life in Ankeny, the births of your children, your trips, your plane rides, your time at your MN cabin, and the births of your grandchildren....You have shared your stories with such enthusiasm. There has been one constant that has shown through in all your stories = your sterling love for Jon (and he for you) and how much the two of you enjoyed life together.
Your high school chums and I sent a bouquet of flowers to you at your home. Consider them a "group hug" and please accept our deepest sympathies.

John will be missed. He was a great friend to us all and an inspirational leader for our sons during his time with all of us in BSA Troop 88.

John was there for all of us and we had great times camping and especially during our Colorado White Water and 14000 ft. mountain trecks .

I am so sorry Linda, that I will be unable to attend Jon's service on Friday. (Jury duty - ugh!) I truly wanted to hug you (in spite of COVID) and let you know how much you and Jon have meant to me and Duke through the years. Jon was such a good friend, a true gentleman, a Renaissance man, a source of fun, and a terrific host. I will miss him - but look forward to seeing what he's gotten up to in heaven while waiting for the rest of us. Much love - Lisa
