John "Duncan" Tilton,53, loving husband to Michelle, and father to Rylee and Drew passed away Monday July 13th in Ankeny Iowa. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 16th at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17th at Prairie Ridge Church (825 NW 36th St). In honor of John please wear, Longhorns, Cowboys, or Astros apparel. Following the burial there will be a gathering at the Tilton Residence.

Duncan was born February 11, 1967 to Gary and Linda (Duncan) Tilton in Lakeland Florida. Duncan graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper Wyoming and went on to the University of Sioux Falls. He played football for the Cougars and graduated with a degree in Business in 1991. This is where he met his wife Michelle (Shelley) and they were married in November of 1991. They were blessed with two children, Rylee Nicole in 2000 and Andrew Duncan in 2002. Duncan worked for Hot Stuff Pizza and Schwans early in his career and then became a stay at home dad where he made the whole world run for the Tilton family. He had a great love for life and was apparent in his ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time. He fiercely loved the people he knew and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Duncan had a passion for all things Texas, the Dallas Cowboys and most importantly his family. He loved nothing more than being with his kids, watching them play sports, and watching them grow up. He loved his dalmatian dogs Sam and Leo and was known around Ankeny for walking his dogs. He attended Prairie Ridge Church and was a man of faith.

He is survived by his wife Michelle, daughter Rylee (20) and son Drew (17). Duncan will also be lovingly remembered by sister Lindsey (Rich Roemen), their children, Koleby Harshfield (Harper and Liam) , Kensey Allen (Creighton), and Bailee Roemen, his Mother and Father in law Ron and Peggy Kruschwitz, Brother in law Brad Kruschwitz (Kris and Alex), Sister in law Jennifer Jones (Ty and Bryce).

Shelley and family I am so sorry for your loss. Duncan was such a good man. I have so many memories of hanging in the dorms, hanging in the locker room, trips to the store at all hours. We had so much fun, he was always so kind and patient, and there just seems to be an empty spot in my heart since I heard of his passing. Please know your college family is missing Dunc today with you, and we so wish he was with us today. My mom always says, "well God needed him more that we do", but I am kinda selfish... I would like more time with Duncan.
Know that we're all here for you... So sorry Shelley and family.

My condolences to the Tilton family. There is never really anything that could be said that can provide comfort during grief. My heart is with you during this difficult time.

One of the things that always impressed me about Duncan, was how much he cared for his family. They were his top priority and a source of pride and it was clear that he loved them all so much.

Rest in Peace, Duncan. You will be deeply missed by so many.

To a loving father and husband; you will always be loved and never forgotten. Your wife said you were always there for people and this is so true. I will always remember Duncan's protective friendship and love. When I was afraid to run after being attacked as a runner, Duncan followed me in his car to make sure I was safe. As a family friend we shared so many laughs, tears, memories... I know you have ascended and are with our heavenly father. Love and hugs to all family and friends. I wish could be there at this time.Such a wonderful person and life. Love all of you, Candice.

Ah Duncan... MAN! I wish I had some words to make the hurt stop or the tears to stop flowing. You were such a good friend. We lived across the hall from each other and you tolerated us ALL in your dorm room to play your video game, night and day. Things like this aren't supposed to happen to such a caring soul as you... you made the world brighter, were the most level headed and always had something to say to lighten the mood. I will miss you my friend... but I will see you again in paradise as a brother.
"Lord, I have no idea why you took my friend, but I can only believe you needed him. My heart hurts, but I do know I'll see Duncan when I see You, and in that time, there will be nothing but joy and happiness. Take care of my friend until we all get there... You already know what a treasure Duncan is. -Amen"
I'm so sorry Shelley. I have nothing that will make the hurt go away, but I wish I did. Just know you have hundreds of people supporting you, and we all love you and your family. Again, so, so sorry my dear friend.
