Upon graduation Rita attended Waldorf College also in Forest City, earning her AA Degree. She then attended University of Northern Iowa (UNI), in Cedar Falls graduating with her B.A. Degree in Social Work in May 1983.

Rita enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard, running, walking, aerobics, shopping, and concerts. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Since her cancer diagnosis, spending time with her granddaughter Malibu Mae (Mally Mae) was an especially special joy in her life.

The family wishes to sincerely thank oncologist/surgeon Dr. Steven Elg and his team, Kathy, Christine, Darla, and Nikki; for the care and passion they gave to Rita over the past four years.
