Duane "Duke" Van Dyke, 70, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 18, 2019. Duane was born November 14, 1949 in Worthington, Minnesota to Roger W. and Mildred E. (Miller) Van Dyke. A memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Memorial Service of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny, IA) with visitation an hour prior to service.

Duane graduated from Leeds High School in Sioux City, Iowa in June 1968. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. He then went on to Des Moines Area Community College and earned an applied associate of arts degree in June 1974. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1976 to 1987 and served in Greece. He went on to work in the Fifth Judicial District of the Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility after his time in the Army. He was an active member in the AFSCME union.

On March 15, 2003, Duane married Kristen Deanna Willey in Sioux City, Iowa. He was affiliated with the LCMS church and enjoyed watching baseball, football, and basketball. His favorite team was the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kristen; children, Logan J. Van Dyke, Landon B. Van Dyke, Andrew N. Jero, and Adam D. Van Dyke; siblings, Barbara Ruehmann, Phyllis Olson, Cynthia Weaver, and Karen (Charles) James; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Duane and I worked together side by side for 24 years. He was a dedicated employee for the 5th Judicial District Mens Residential Facility. He was a Good Friend and co-worker.
