Tribute & Message From The Family


Patricia A. Foster, 84, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family November 3, 2019. A visitation will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2019 at Ankeny Memorial Gardens 4208 N. Ankeny Blvd. Ankeny, IA 50023, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
Patricia was born October 3, 1935 in Union township, Davis County, Iowa to Odie Doy (Pete) Archer and Bernice (Fountain) Archer.
On June 5, 1955 Patricia was united in marriage to Richard W. Foster in Bloomfield, IA. Within that marriage they had 5 children Richard Jeffrey Foster, Michael William Foster, Laura Marie Strovers, Theresa Kay Foster and Patricia Lynn Foster.
Patricia was very proud of her teaching career and in her ability to reach out to the kids that needed an extra helping hand. At the age of 62 after raising 5 kids and running the family owned business, she returned to Drake University to earn her bachelor's degree and to continue her love of teaching.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Dick Foster and her two sisters, Shirley Schumaker and Wanda Walker.
She is survived by her two sons Jeff Foster and Mike Foster, and three daughters, Laura Strovers and her husband Robert, Theresa Foster and Patty Foster; twenty grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and seven great-great Grandchildren.
We will all miss her dearly.

So sorry for your loss Jeff,Mike,Laura,Theresa and Patty. We all have do many memories of our families growing up on Philip's Street. What fun we had. Always had a good time together. I remember piercing your mom's ears... oh my, she was a brave soul that day. Sending you all prayers and many hugs. You'll always have the memories.

Lots of fond memories at the Foster home. Great neighbors. She was a good teacher and had a caring heart for others. My condolences to her family.

My sincere sympathies to your family. I have memories of your mom and dad are your family that are great! You were wonderful neighbors and friends. I think back on all the animals that lived at your house. It makes me smile. What fun we all had!
