Betty was born November 10, 1923 just outside of Elkhart, Iowa to George Fred Reynolds & Iva Mae Reynolds (Harris). She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1941. Betty then was introduced to her husband to be of 72 years, Ray Romick, on a blind date. They were later married at the Des Moines Valley Church of the Brethren, June 16, 1944 Elkhart, Iowa. Ray was already in the Army in 1943 and shortly after they were married he went to California for basic training, then to France and then Germany only getting to see her a couple times before he left. Betty lived with her parents on the dairy farm located on the west side of Ankeny. Ray and Betty wrote letters almost every day during the war. Betty worked for Younkers in Des Moines for many years alongside her Mother, Iva. She never learned to drive so was always dependent on someone getting her where she needed to go. They settled in Alleman, Iowa in 1962 after living in Ankeny for several years raising 3 children.

She is survived by 2 children, Linda (Norman) Moorhead of Bivins, Texas and Steve (Joyce) Romick of Alleman, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren that includes step-children; and 9 great-great-grandchildren that includes step-children.
