Tribute & Message From The Family

Curtis Lee Kelling, age 41, loving husband and father of 4 children, was called to his new duty post at the Pearly Gates on Thursday July, 25th 2019.

Curtis was born on March 3rd 1978 in El Paso Texas. SSGT Kelling was sworn into the Marines on June 10, 1996 and retired August 31st, 2016. He served 7 tours; three served in Japan, three served in Iraq, and one served in Afghanistan.

On November 9th, 2002, he married Amber Nichole Frazier. They have 4 sons; Braeden (10), Caleb (9), Jace (5), and Liam (5) Kelling. Curtis loved spending time with his family. His wife and boys were who he admired most. They enjoyed the many travels and vacations they took together all over the world. He was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns. Curtis also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and he was mastering his hands in woodworking. He was always willing to help anyone he could, no matter the situation. Curtis was a son, father, brother, uncle, Marine, and most of all, Our Hero.


He is survived by his wife Amber, his four children Braeden, Caleb, Jace, and Liam. His brothers Chris, Chad, and Evander. His sisters Misty and Angel. And his father Steve., Along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and fellow Marines.

Visitation Services will be held on July 31st, 2019 from 5-7 pm at the Ankeny Memorial Gardens-4208 N Ankeny Blvd. Ankeny, IA 50023

A funeral service will be held on August 1st, 2019 at Lutheran Church of Hope in Ankeny, IA followed by Burial services at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Adel, IA.

Curtis for as long as I've known you I was very proud of your professionalism and kindness to all. But there's one side nobody would ever expect your all of a sudden practical jokes out of respect I won't post them but I remember them well that's what I'm going to miss the most but you always succeeded in everything you did and competing against anyone made your day I'm glad to have been part of your life and families your wife and children where your special hearts they always came first no matter what I'll miss you Curtis and your awesome smile Rest In Peace you where taken way to soon
