Tribute & Message From The Family
Wendy Jo (Goll) Whitney died May 27, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the widow of John Whitney. They shared 34 years of marriage together.
Born on December 22, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Calvin and Ruth Goll.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Garner VFW on Saturday, June 15, from 1:00 – 3:00.
Wendy enjoyed her work at the Forestry Department in Oregon, which suited her love of nature. When she moved to Wisconsin with her husband, she worked in the Engineering Department at Fort McCoy. She told us many stories of riding in a tank and accidentally driving through a firing range. She had a deep love of her country.
Wendy truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; she had an avid love for reading books. She was well known for her "stash" of dollar bills and always brought them out in little baggies for family contests.
Wendy is survived by her sisters Kristie Jackson and Cathy Stadtlander, and her brothers Steve (Janet) Goll, and Joel (Julie) Goll. Wendy is preceded in death by her husband, John Whitney, and her parents Calvin and Ruth Goll.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you give to a charity of your choice.
Condolence & Memory Journal
My condolences to the family. I never saw Wendy without a smile on her face. I worked with Wendy at the Resource Management Office at Fort McCoy. She was truly a bright light in this world. Her joy, being with her other half, John, again, is our sorrow. She will be missed.

Did not that Wendy was in Ankeny. Have not been in touch since high school. The one and only time I ever got to stay overnight on a school night was with Wendy. It was a Tuesday night early spring. There was a blizzard that night and I was there for 3 days. No electricity! We played restaurant and played outside in the snow. The snow was up to the roof of their barn. Sympathy to the family.
